That's exactly the question I was going to ask any other star gazers. Is there a constellation/star that you are particularly attracted to? Since coming to the south and being able to see the stars well I've also been taken in by Orion. It rises for us also in the east to mark the arrival of spring/summer! I'll be able to start doing some learning to find those other constellations that you mentioned.

Taurus, the home of Pleiades and Sirius. It's easy to find it, so long as it's up during the night and not in march-may, when it is close to the position of the sun. Just look for the brightest star, so long as it's not near sunset/sunrise, you will home in on the correct location.
I've always been fascinated by the appearance of the Pleiades, and those who know about stories associated with Atlantis, it is said by some to be the place where the Atlanteans went to wait out until their return.
Star walk is a good app to help you learn the sky. Also research local myths and stories. Sometimes those stories are told in the sky.
