I served 3.5 years and can honestly say half the screws thought the same as your mate. They were more fucked up than we were as at least we had no option to go home to our loved ones each night.

That was the main resentment between us inmates and those that chose to come there every day in exchange for weekly slavenotes.

I had no sympathy though and it brought us all great comfort knowing they'll all still be there long after we left.

No offence to you but your mate deserves his prison. The prison system sucks in people that can't handle living in normal society and that includes the screws.
