Pet theory:
Alex Jones is controlled opposition. When a story can't be suppressed, Alex discredits it in the eyes of the general public.
Not saying this is true of everything he says, in fact if his job is discrediting stories, it'd be beneficial to also run fake news.
Example - the famous gay frogs thing, the frogs were in fact turning into hermaphrodites, but it's just become a meme.
