A five day work week is time theft.
There are more things to do in this life than work.
Leisure time?
Sure.
Is two days enough time for resting and then doing something for leisure?
That's debatable.
But,
There are more things to do in this life than work and play.
Organise.
Uprise.
Protect, heal, grow.
Build.
With the five day work week, we have time to do none of these things — unless they are profitable.
We have been shoehorned into slaving away for the company, the corporation, the governments, the military.
And people will call you lazy if you don't work 5 or even 6 days.
People will laugh at you for wanting extra time for your own life.
Companies will refuse your requests for an extra day off — "obviously!!", you laugh — and if you take the day regardless, you'll be fired, and nobody would be surprised.
Who's taking care of the health of the community?
Who's keeping the governments and corporations in check?
Who's looking after any of the things that don't make money?
NGOs maybe, non-profits maybe. But they need funding, they need support, they need a structure and a system to keep them afloat through difficult times. So they become inherently beholden to their financers. And they will fail if the economic and/or political climate is unfavourable.
Five days is theft of freedom.
Not simply personal freedom, but freedom of self governance, of community, of community health.
They are keeping Us busy & exhausted on purpose.
