NIP-05 is like having a friend vouch for who you are. You can either vouch for yourself if you have your own website, or you can ask someone else too. What it does is link up your npub to an easy to read identifier that looks like an email address.

For example, I vouch for myself at my own domain, so I show up as @wisehodl.dev

But before I did that, I used nostrplebs.com and I was wisehodl@nostrplebs.com

In both cases, if you looked up those addresses, you'd get back my npub so you can find me.

Here's an in depth guide:

Thank you so much. Now I know. I guess my website is my voucher.

If you have your own site, that link I sent has some instructions for how to set up a NIP-05 id.

You can see mine in action here. If you can add a file like this to your site, you'll be good to go.

https://wisehodl.dev/.well-known/nostr.json

Where that string next to "_" is the hex version of my npub. You can find that value on clients like nostrudel.ninja . Then in my client, I've set my identity as _@wisehodl.dev

I did it!, 🤗

Thanks a bunch!!
