Podcasts these days seem to be getting longer and longer.
I cannot even finish listening to one episode most times.
The ones I do finish take me 3-4 days to get through.

Yep. I skip the vast majority now. Simply not enough time even at 1.7x.
It kinda sucks having to speed it up - everyone sounds funny and at times I miss concepts because they went by too fast.
Look forward to shorter podcast tbh.
Castro allows you to compress the silent parts of a podcast, They claim it can reduce podcast listening time by 10-20%. (I haven’t measured.) I’m fairly sure other podcast apps have the same feature.
It’s a great feature. I was a years-long Castro subscriber until I switched to Fountain.
Not just the silent parts but the entire format - not a fan. The new trends is to literally browse and checks things while you’re recording. It takes so much longer to get to their point. I personally don’t care to wait for someone to browse for 5 mins to find something.
haha totally. For me, its come down to a daily/weekly purge session after browsing the show notes and deciding which ones peak my interest and I want to spend time with.
On a related note, I really like the nostr:npub1v5ufyh4lkeslgxxcclg8f0hzazhaw7rsrhvfquxzm2fk64c72hps45n0v5 clip feature, not that clips are a replacement for a full episode of course.
It would be useful if there was a "Clips" tab on the Episode details screen, where I could see all clips (created by other users) related to that particular episode.
this is where audio highlighter app would be very useful
yeah I cannot finish at once if it’s longer than 30 min
That’s about the time I have to dedicate on any single day while I’m doing something else
Yessss!!! And there are too many of them. They're multiplying. Too many podcasters not enough listeners.
What is the ideal podcast length in your opinion? For me, the cap is 2 hours.
