if you are talking about how it technically integrates: NIP-57 - https://nips.be/57

if you are talking about how it integrates from an infrastructure standpoint: economically; nostr can't exist without bitcoin

In nostr, are all DMs encrypted by default and enforced by the protocol, or is encryption of DMs optional?

Yeah, fhey are all encrypted, would not show up if not encrypted
