6 months is a very long time.

Why would someone continue to use an app for 6 months and then gradually leave.

I feel we are looking for a solution without really identifying the problem, or just assuming one.

This requires investigation first. Maybe start with a survey. nostr:note10vxepuvh8ksuagvxep0m6zdnunj9tnjdgw9kpg73lx4tc95pgx8sell6ep

Most likely coincided with the App Store crack down.

You mean when zaps disappeared?

Yeah, I would definitely use Damus way less if I can’t zap notes directly.

Which thinking about it, is really odd. Why would I be bothered if I can’t pay volunteer sats. 🫤

It was a big hit to the momentum. Granted the real ones know there is a work around.

Nostr is inevitable, I do not worry in that respect but it was a noticeable sway especially when considering the #Zapathon angle

100% agree.

If an app over time starts to feel very similar to one with more network effects, what are the reasons to remain on the platform?

It needs something different that offers you something no one else.

It may already have this thing but it’s not that easy to grab on hold to

That’s also a really good point. People on social media in general, want people to interact with them.

Thats why for example I don’t do Twitter. Feels like I’m posting to the void.

So if someone gets that feeling here they would probably get bored and leave.

I mentioned this to nostr:npub1zafcms4xya5ap9zr7xxr0jlrtrattwlesytn2s42030lzu0dwlzqpd26k5 but I truly believe that the global page needs a complete overhaul. Changing it to a hashtag management page.

There you see posts from hashtag you follow, add hashtags, remove them, filter view by hashtag. This way, you can find your niche and be part of a group who understand you and can relate to your notes.

Finally, remove following hashtags from my own feed. And maybe keep a global, but hidden.

just stop bowing and scraping to the tyrants in cupertino already. it's unbelievable how much garbage you people take from them.
