As a Brit, I find this interesting and it's something I've not really thought about. My prior views were, why the fuck do they allow Americans to own such guns, the school shootings, homicides etc. It's only since joining #Nostr that I've changed my views. I now FULLY understand why you can, should and do own them and also, why absolutely shouldn't give them up!
