A few years ago I mentioned to my dad, in his 80's at the time, that the dollar isn't backed by gold and he had no idea. He was an adult in 1971, lived through it all, and still had no idea. I was shocked.

It's that lack of curiosity so many of us have. We once heard something in passing, adopted it and never gave it a second thought.

The bankers are evil geniuses.
