Signal requires that you share a telephone number. SimpleX only requires that you share an address identifier, which is not tied to you in any way. And you can use separate addresses for separate people so that you cannot be identified if you’re talking with two buddies. It provides a more anonymous alternative to Signal in a format that approximates Telegram but which has greater security than Telegram.
Nostr is not appropriate for small group chats, and it’s not anonymous (relays can see IP’s if they do desire).
Welp, that's that.
Signal -> SimpleX it is.
TY!
Signal is great if you want to start a group chat amongst friends. But if some of us Anonstriches want to chat about natural rights but wanted to stay unknown to one another, we’d be better suited setting up a group on Simpx. Telegram group chats aren’t really secure, and Telegram has a habit of censoring groups it doesn’t like (RoboSats, of late). Simpx also allows you to manage servers in a way that Signal does not

For what it is worth, I think redundancy is wise. Use SimpleX as the superior option but don't toss out Signal.

Completely forgot about the phone number requirement. Thanks for the reminder!
