If you want to run a Bitcoin node, you have no choice but to host most of the junk.
The discussion is how to reduce that junk being added in the future. This is the difference we can make. With the right information, we can make the right choices.

No, but you do get a choice about Runes.
Moving to knots is more about voting against core's decision to remove the OP_RETURN limit by display of public nodes.
