I just got locked out of my account because I used a VPN and a burner email trying to pay my phone bill. They eventually let me in, but it was like a 30 minute ordeal of me trying to get back into my account.

Someone pointed out other day how the anti-vpn stuff is ramping up lately. I've noticed it too.

I mean, there are portions of the internet. I just straight up can't or won't use anymore because they block me for using a VPN. I used to have a Reddit account for asking random questions about niche topics and I can no longer use them because they block me for any sort of VPN activity. That's probably my biggest example, but I know there are other ones.

Oh that's right, Reddit is a huge one. What's really upsetting is when something just doesn't work, and it'll take me 5 minutes of trying stuff before I think to disable vpn and then poof it works. Happened with an event ticket site thing most recently.

Oh yeah, that's another one I can't use. ticket master. I won some tickets through a radio station, a good handful of months ago, and oh boy was that a hassle getting those tickets.

You refuse to just disable? I don't like it, but that's what I'll do. Not sure how big a deal a one off no-vpn interaction is, but assume it's negligible, so must be a principled reason

At this point, it's definitely a principal thing for me. It's probably partially retarded on my part. But hostility towards privacy really pisses me off.

I feel you. Fighting the good fight :)

Tried zapping fyi. Doesn't seem to work

Yeah, yeah, my zaps have been busted for months and I'm just too lazy to fix them. It's on my list.

Wasn't generational wealth, don't worry

Would you like to extend your warranty on your cars extended warranty of a warranty.

Haha never had that one. Get a lot of crypto scam texts and sometimes calls. Most i just hang up on and never know what they are about.

I do use a service called Jolly Roger Telephone Company. It's like 12 bucks a year per phone line. It does two things. It blocks spam calls and gives actual humans a chance to get to your number And if you happen to catch a spammer, it shunts them into a robot and sends you the recording of this person trying to talk to the robot.
