if i use a custodial wallet, can i can legally tell my government i don't own any bitcoin without lying, as i don't actually own it, the company does?

This makes my zaps... me measly moving someone else's sats, to someone else, saving me the taxable event as I never owned the sats moved correct?

I am glad I don't. I have a non-custodial wallet which I lost the private keys to in a boating accident :)
