Itās my understanding that this kind of thinking stems from the fear of having things taken away from you. Likely from a pattern that forms from having a parent who taught you to associate things you that brought you joy with ābeing bad.ā When weāre punished for doing things that bring us joy we learn to associate the feeling of success with the fear of having it taken away. We learn that we donāt actually deserve to be happy.
This created irrational adult behaviors in me and led to classic examples of self-sabotage.
I donāt pretend to know what drives anyone else; I just point out similar behaviors in others that Iāve experienced myself and wonder if thereās a connection.
