The question is not why does Elon have access to my personal date while in the process of auditing the DHS.

The question is why does the DHS have my personal data.

Or if you press me a bit, why does the DHS exist?

Because if they do and can consolidate in a centralised manner, it’s easier for hackers to get a single consolidated dataset. Efficiency
