If the price of gold crashes whilst bitcoin goes up (as its increasingly seen as a lifeboat for value), would i be a bad person to say to all the gold bugs i know

Not sure why the price would crash if there is no gold. If there is no gold the price will rise.

Man, that's an interesting question. Less gold = more $ but would an empty Ft Knox expose the huge, scammy paper trading AND phys storage markets? Gold would turn into a leper. Plus the phys gold is out there somewhere, I assume

Paper gold is not gold. The physical stuff would increase in value if none were found in Ft Knox, as the dollar would decrease. They will never audit that shit, they are not that stupid. And if they do, it will be a sham audit.
