The word "deserve" is the most meaningless and shallow word in the English language.

When someone says something deserves to happen, what they really mean is they want that thing to happen but aren't themselves willing to take any action to bring that thing about. So instead they offload any sense of responsibility to a sense of cosmic justice and call it a day.
