#[0] was kinda acting out on me just now 😄 — was making a rather significant tx (at least for me) and had 6k sats more than the required sum. Yet the (custodial account) wallet asked me to have more funds (1% of the sum being sent). End of the day I paid ~2k. Is there any doc to see how you guys charge fees / what’s your monetization approach? Just curious.

we only charge ln fees so far. who was the recipient? was that node well connected? it mostly depends on the recipient.

but thanks for reporting, please dm me or support@getalby.com then we can investigate this and see how we can improve it.

Didn’t mean to bother, was just wondering. Thanks for getting back, man

The fee is calculated here: https://github.com/getAlby/lndhub.go/blob/c7f2d8558e7f33f020889e9de5936022554b0c1c/lib/service/user.go#L109

The problem is that we don't know the fee a priori so we are a bit conservative to increase the odds of finding a route and to make sure there is no possibility of the account going below 0. This is purely to cover the Lightning routing fees, at the moment we do not have any fees for monetization.

That was my first guess. Thanks for the link!

I’m actually surprised you are not charging at least a fraction of the routing fees though.
