Switching my node to Knots.
Discussion
Even Mechanic points out this is not ideal. The core devs love this. When it was brought up during the panel they all enthusiastically agreed that people who don't like this should run knots. This outcome is a win for them because then they make their shitcoiner friends happy and they know the majority of nodes, including the big economic players (exchanges and such), will continue to run core. The fight needs to be for core, but I will switch to knots as well if that's what it comes down to.
What if you just don’t install that particular update. Wouldn’t that save the troubles of having to switch to knots?
Yup. Ie im still on 28.1 and dont plan to upgrade. Giving up and going to knots is not needed.
That's definitely an option. Pretty much how ossification works. It's not so much about the inconvenience of upgrading to knots. It's more about conceding to a group of devs who are attempting to take core down the wrong path. Core is important software, these guys are trying to make it a plaything for shitcoiners, and silence node runners by preventing any further debate (see clip below). I'm a user of core, I'd like to remain a user of core. But I'm also drawing a line in the sand when it comes to shitcoining on bitcoin. I'm done with compromising on this. https://youtube.com/clip/UgkxuA1HEEDYh3CIXxRZjCSNPQzBUTWAc3wq?si=pSWqd1iIgTXHR-Ly
True! Got it, thanks for elaborating
Sure. But long-term, I don’t think that is a good idea. There are necessary updates in any software application that will need to happen just to maintain it.
Core is already cooked

Yes, but as a signaling mechanism, it makes sense. Plenty of people will not upgrade to latest Core simply because of laziness or business and some because they are against the change in Core. But impossible to know which it is.
