Most if not all #nostr apps are missing a comprehensive onboarding flow that takes users through what the network is, how it’s different, what relays do and how to find good ones, and how to connect a Lightning wallet.

I experienced this yesterday setting up my friend nostr:npub1wvc8u63ek6mvuykz9jcw5eqquxvheetxms4ph2p43wwgensh06mqg900ea on Damus. I’ve been here for 6 months and there are still quite a few confusing and complicated steps that will intimidate novice users.

We still have a long way to go.

Give the devs some time. The apps will mature. We are kinda in Beta but the demand for an uncensored app was so big that it kinda went viral anyway.

It’s not just devs. I’m calling on designers to help solve this problem. This is an all-hands type of effort.

Been here a week and still don’t really understand the best way to find relays besides stumbling on them. Some of them say they are paid and don’t quite understand that either.

I also had no idea I could long press the zap icon to modify the default zap amount on wallet of Satoshi until a few days ago.

That definitely needs an introductory explanation!

Try adding a few paid relays from this list. You can get on some them for a tiny admission fee of as low as 1000 sats.

Then turn off all the unpaid relays in your global feed and you will avoid seeing nearly all spam. You’ll also have a wider reach on the posts you publish.
