One absolutely vital thing I learned from my mother was how to live well through food. Not just health from the quality although that part is paramount, I actually derive pleasure and satisfaction from sourcing the best meats from a local butcher, delicious in-season fruits and veggies from my own garden or local farms, and bringing these things together beautifully and providing them for others. I delight in delivering a perfectly cooked steak to my family or my guests’ exact specifications. When I am asked for seconds of a dish, I am actually thrilled.
