This is the last photo of Saman Kunan, the 38-year-old former Thai Navy SEAL diver who gave his life to provide oxygen to trapped children in a cave in Thailand.

When he realized the boys were running low on oxygen, he left his own tank behind to give them a chance and set out to get more. But he didn't make it back.

The twelve boys were later successfully rescued โ€“ thanks to his selfless sacrifice.
