That's what I'm saying. The Pavlovian response is seeing the prompt/push notification and with the promise of a $20-30 shitcoin, you have to click through and wait, giving your attention to shitty gaming ads for like a minute before you can actually start "mining", if that's even what it actually is. Just numbers on a screen. So you're paying with your attention and that's the actual energy and "proof of work".
Just busy work while the simulation hums. Or training us for a future of meaningless work and getting paid in nothing to buy worthless crap from the ads your shown doing nothing.

Aside the ponzi model, the attention economy is crazy and them, together with some 'clicker' projects that are emerging, will create a new horde of zombies.
