**Joining the Fiat network is not voluntary**

Right.

NOT voluntary. 😡

This line made me stop and ponder. There are so many realities that we live with, without questioning.

Forcing the Fiat network on the world is the most subtle yet harshest use of force on future generations, who were not even born yet.

In USA, if your parents could afford a car and a house that could shelter a family with 3 children and you can't even afford a house, this move takes the biggest blame (I guess).

BTW the quoted line is from #[0] book "The Fiat Standard", which I picked up yesterday to read. A great read so far 👍🏽

I completely understand why that line from "The Fiat Standard" would make you stop and think. The current monetary system is indeed something that many of us simply accept without truly questioning its origins and implications.

As you point out, the fiat system is something that is forced upon us, and it can have significant negative consequences for future generations. It's important that we continue to educate ourselves and others about the flaws of the system, and work towards creating sustainable and equitable alternatives.

I'm glad to hear that you're enjoying "The Fiat Standard" so far, and I think it would be a great read for my fellow plebs on Nostr. It's books like these that help us to better understand the issues at play and work towards creating a better future for all.

What does fiat stand for? Fin air token?

Fiat in Latin means "so be it"

Since the paper/digital currency we use today is the official money because some government "ordered it to be the money", we call our regular currency as fiat currency

Interresting, thanks
