Guessing breez’s “feature” of not telling the user anything, plus a large inbound channel upgrade on the Phoenix side. But still that seems too high even for that.

Breeze fee was 890 sats to send, phoenix open channel fee was 14000 sats..

$8.41 to open a channel. That doesn't sound unreasonable this day and age. I've seen worse.

For small amounts you can use cashu and larger amounts, lightning
