Spoke to a friend of mine who is a professional comedian.

Tried to get him on Nostr and failed miserably.

As well as touring, he makes 'jokes on the street' videos which get millions of views on TikTok, Facebook etc. He probably makes a little money from the videos, but it's not his main income.

I mentioned that we need more non-bitcoin content and that his videos would be well received. Lots of people would tip him directly with Bitcoin.

"I don't have any bitcoin," he said.

"You don't need any. Download Primal, and it comes with a wallet. Start posting and getting zaps right away."

Silence.

He is not dumb. He knows social media is exploitative and algorithms are an awful game to play. He knows the pound is fucked.

But this shows how hard it is to fight the systems that have their hooks so deep into us.

What's a better way to purple-pill him?

We need more great comedy on Nostr!

A lot of people don't trust Bitcoin because of all the negative press. Fiatjaf was doxxed as a "far right" founder. We sometimes have porn spam. Censorship resistance means we sometimes talk to people who have been banned from legacy social media because they are anti-war hippies or racist.

Privacy is necessary for an open society, but most of society doesn't want an open society or sound money. Society wants socialism and stimmy checks. They blame the current president, not monetary policy, for inflation. They blame Discord for radicals.

I suspect most people in the world do not want to be free. They want entertainment, carbs, and fancy cars that make others envious. They believe freedom= consumerism, not speech. They can't be bothered with signing paper for credit card payments anymore. Why would they bother with digital signatures to make fart jokes and save money?

Yeah, the risk of cancellation for comedians is an unfortunate reality.

Spend time here posting your own content and collect zaps and then show him what you achieved and let him see what’s possible. We don’t need his content until he wants to be here. If that sounds harsh, oh well. We’ve had a few “big” people from other social media show up here, post a couple things and get zapped for it, and then they never engage back and they leave. It’s obnoxious. We need more content from people who are active here.

Make him an account and screenrecord some of hiscontent and share it and then show him the zaps coming in 😂(and hope he doesn’t sue you 😅)
