The Nigerian federal government has announced plans to subsidize agricultural inputs by 50% in the upcoming dry season farming. The subsidy will cover a range of inputs, including seeds, fertilizer, herbicides, and pesticides. This initiative is part of the National Agricultural Growth Scheme and Agro-Pocket project, which aims to boost dry season farming and enhance food security in the country. The project, implemented with the support of the African Development Bank, has already geo-located farmlands and registered 250,000 farmers. The Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Sen. Abubakar Kyari, made the announcement during the flag-off of the dry season farming in Hadejia, Jigawa State .
