#Optus service back online for me as of 1:30PM. No service messages at all, it connected to a tower a bit before that and picked up service 15-20 mins later.

I swore I’d never use Telstra again after they blocked LiveLeak and 4chan after Christchurch upon request from NZ’s intelligence - an Australian, publicly listed Telco, acting at the behest of a foreign government is fucking nonsense and I refuse to give them money, particularly when the shooter live-streamed on Facebook which faced ZERO consequences.

Guess I’ll be moving to Vodafone soon and then to tin cans and string if they suck.

Lucky my NBN is Telstra so I got away with the day

My phone on Amaysim…. Woof… vodaphone is its own nightmare

Who knew monopolies in markets could backfire 🙄

If you're planning on switching to Vodafone network, check out Felix.

They're a small MVNO who offer unlimited 4G data capped at 20Mbps for $40, and plant a tree 🌱 for each month you stay connected.

Obviously the network coverage isn't as good as Telstra, but the unlimited data and affordability make it a pretty compelling option.

Thanks mate, I’ll give them a look

NBN was flaky today too, whatever happened i dont think it was entirely Optus.

I am seriously investigating moving entirely to SIP for phone calls and SMS. Then I can use whatever TCP/IP connection is around.

Problem might be using it for institutions requiring it for 2FA, apparently VoIP-only mobile numbers are often blocked. :-/
