With my local ferry, you drive onto an elevator that holds two cars. It lowers you to the car deck, then rotates to line you up with one of six lanes and you back into your assigned spot. Then the deckhands chain it down, front and back.

Is the process similar on your ferry?

No, not at all, it holds about 200 cars and about 2,000 passengers. I don’t think they have time to faff about with chains πŸ˜‚

Wow, that's a biggun. Ours only holds 160 people and 34 cars. It takes about 2 hours to load.

I was glad for the chains last time, we encountered 15-20 foot seas. I just about fell out of my berth a couple times.

In the time it takes your ferry to load my ferry has completed a round trip πŸ˜‚
