As Michael Daly reports, in the Texas town of Granbury, it has come to this with folks determined to censor and ban books in school libraries: the assistant principal of the local high-school found two women, one a school board member, in the dark in the school library, which they entered at 8 A.M., switching off lights. They were using cell-phone lights to peer at books.

The school board member, Karen Lowery, is "on a crusade against supposed smut in school libraries" and has been reprimanded for her behavior by the school board president. Lowery has filed a criminal complaint alleging the high school is illegally harboring obscene books. She got herself elected to the board by campaigning against alleged smut in the school library. And she's convinced she's crusading against alleged evil in the library.
