Can anyone explain why primal requires you to kyc to activate the wallet now? Trying to get someone set up on here and this is real lame.

You can disable the default wallet and instead connect a different wallet (NWC protocol) :blobworker:

You can use any NWC wallet with Primal.

We have no KYC one click instant setup NWC wallets you can use instead of the inbuilt Primal wallet.

This is true on Android. Last I heard it was not available on iOS version.

The reason is because the wallet is hosted by Strike, and they are regulated as a money transmitting business. Since the Primal wallet also allows you to buy Bitcoin, there absolutely will be KYC.

If you are on Android, you do not need to use Primal's wallet. You can connect any other Nostr Wallet Connect compatible wallet in the settings. Just remember to also update your profile with that wallet's lightning address.
