Prior to COVID, I thought the same about most people. Sadly, I now believe that whatever happens, it will come down to a small vocal minority that puts up a fight similar to the American Revolution. It took a minute, but less than 5% of the population is believed to have supported separation from England at the beginning of the conflict. Most people seem quite happy to follow the rules of whoever happens to be in power at the moment.
