It's tough being overworked and undervalued for an uncomfortably long time. Much of the world is capital-driven, no matter how you slice it, which allows for a certain amount emptiness when it comes to hard work or good-natured personhood.

Much of life is also driven by a need to feel important, or to belong to some kind of group. So when you criticize a group, it's as if you're criticizing the individual. It becomes problematic when you believe that the group ought to be recognized more than it is, so you gamble your commitment to it as a function of growing your own personal currency.

Cultures driven by capital and shallow forms of social currency perpetuate a growing void of echo chambers and spiritual loneliness.
