Another idea, maybe everyone does this? Open a channel with Wallet of Satoshi (assuming you run a node). You can move sats between custodial WoS and a private node wallet (I use Blue Wallet) and it doesn’t cost anything.

With me? What I mean is, just open a channel directly to WoS. Then you can use their custodial wallet cause it’s easy, but keep funds safe by moving it to your own node. There is no fee to do this because you have a channel open with them.
