No is he from Madeira?
i live in Boaaventura on the north side between Sao Vicente Santana
i don't have transport so i don't go to funchal very often, like, so far maybe once a season
We moved around with the public bus, very cheap. Not always in time though 😅😂
yeah, the bus is cheaper but there's like 4 a day
haha i probably should use them sometimes, but mostly i just try to get by with what i can get to on foot
i was talking to some locals the other day and it's not hard for me to get my licence and with that i can ride a 125cc or less bike which would very suit me, maybe 600 euros and a month and a few driving lessons
anyway, i live in Sao Christoval technically speaking, which is adjacent to a very nice walking path on the edge of the mountain over to the next village Sao Jorge
it's cold and rainy and windy this time of year over here though, not really pleasant touristy weather, lots of fog and clouds and crazy winds that blow up out of nowhere and then disappear again
My job is done here ✌️👋
wild waves around the island at the moment, at night it's a constant roar and the winds coming and going with bursts of rain
I was there a few weeks ago, some bad and rainy days but mostly good weather. I loved it in the north but been only in Santana for 2 days. Funchal is also cool and I loved to be able to pay with bitcoin in so many places. Definitely going back at some point to keep exploring the island.
there's some good surfing breaks over this side of the island, especially over between Ponta Delgada and Sao Vicente, definitely gotta have wetsuit for this weather and i don't really see people out there that much... there is no natural sandy beaches on this island, the profile of the mountain goes straight down pretty fast, what you see above, goes down the same way, i think if you count the height of the volcano that is the root of this island from where it erupts in the sea bed it might be the tallest mountain on teh planet, in fact
To be honest I prefer it doesn't have the sandy beaches if that was the case the island would be full of resorts
yeah, the main thing people come here for is the hikes through the mountains and the views along the coast roads and tracks, and probably the many ruins all over the place
