the reason you can’t afford L1 is because wealthier people crowded you out sneee

the ctv agitators might be onto something about forks being the answer to how to keep bitcoin affordable 🤣

fun fact: jane jacobs describes the “fork or get priced-out by higher resource transactors” mechanism (in very different words) in her 1980 book A Question of Separatism

this later inspired a longer form book with more details: cities and the wealth of nations, which doesn’t have a wikipedia page, unfortunately 😞

in essence you are arguing for shifting people to custodial systems "different currencies" issued by someone...

i think y'all need to keep pushing to find ways to improve LN, or build out ark, for sure nothing wrong with fedimints, they fit well also with pBFT ledgers

a bitcoin fork wouldn’t be custodial……..

but if it ScAlEd like BSV and BCH it would become effectively custodial because only a few can run the replicas

fixing LN's liveness problem and finding other ways to create a routeable state channel network than the static point to point would be a lot more helpful

i just read the strong federations paper, well, as much as i could stand, it reads much like tendermint and cosmos rolled into one, it's also not a solution because scaling is not solved by reverting to an old, limited membership distributed database replication protocol, compared to the new one that has the problem of maintaining decentralisation via a small footprint and thus sometimes high congestion

If only we had incessantly, obsessively talked about bitcoin like it was veganism or Crossfit for years. Maybe we could have literally just ran around and give small amounts of it away for free OR WAIT SET UP WEBSITES that would do that for us. So many wasted opportunities, sitting around, keeping to ourselves, and quietly liking bitcoin. Gone like tears in the rain.
