There’s a deeply long-game-systems beauty at work here. The country with the highest cost to successfully invade. The country with the most level playing field relative to their powers-that-be (the rest of the field ain’t great). Rough and tumble? Tragic? Unfair? Yes. Beautiful? Also yes.
