I already use Matrix, though with Element, but I have FluffyChat too. I hadn't heard of ChildiChat Next, though I've used Cinny before.

XMPP I tried in the past, but the server I used (e2e.ee) has gone down.

For Nostr DM's, I don't think Primal supports NIP-17, though I'm considering finding a good app that's Free Software and supports NIP-17.

Tox should be reworked! Reserected! I love it but wish the stability of the video and audio call was better! Xmpp is much more stable and I love OMEMO! Double ratchet encryption is hard to beat.
