With this whole Ledger recover saga: with what key are these "encrypted shards" encrypted?

They're talking about a recovery scenario where you lost your bip39 seedphrase. You recover with 2 of the 3 SSS shards from these external companies. But they stress, everywhere, that the shards are encrypted. Encrypted with what key?

Not an answer, but to add to the question,

either those two keys are enough to recover your funds, in which case they can be used to steal funds, or you need all 3 keys, in which case this isnt a backup at all. Either way, this seems as foolish as everything #ledger does.

Not if the shards are encrypted with a key the companies can't access. So it comes back to my question, I think.

If they are encrypted with a key they cant access, how can I recover my funds in the case of a housefire where I lose everything?
