Merry Christmas! I haven’t seen the movie. I’ll put it in the queue of movies to watch. There will always be awful people, I suggest a change in focus. There are lots of good people too.

Thanks.
It’s a very whimsical, quirky, feel good 🇫🇷French film. Made Audrey Tatou famous.
The gnome thing is super cute! (Had one myself.)
I actually know 2 people who know Noam Chomsky and one did a project with him.
I think Noam is one of the great thinkers of this era. Have you seen Requiem for the American Dream?
No, I’m not familiar with any of his stuff. Just aware that he’s a famous Linguist and very intelligent.
Delicatessen and City of Lost Children are also must see
Merci.
“Delicatessen” was the 1st French film I saw — with other students learning French & teacher at a guy’s house — and I didn’t like it. Not a good film to see as intro to French film, too bizarre. It’s very French tho.
But “City of Lost Children” is very good but haven’t seen the entire thing. Started watching it in my early 20s cuz was on TV.
hah, you'll enjoy delicatessen more after you watch city of lost children
it's not as good but it also came before
in case you like french stuff you should check out "immortel: ad vitam" another brilliant movie, i have no idea who made it - and also, everything by Luc Besson is awesome, 5th element, district 13, there was some old one i forget, subway or something...
oh yeah, and for italian, Nirvana is a must see... really hard to find tho Christopher Lambert cyberpunk movie - it has terrible english dubbing but the visuals and atmosphere are the best
Agree, I think I’d like and appreciate “Delicatessen” more now since much more familiar with French films.
French films are my favorite Foreign films.
Have seen “The Fifth Element” and it was good but also thought it was somewhat sexist. 🇫🇷Luc Besson’s ex-wife Milla Jovovich is very skimpily dressed for film and there were female objectification elements that I didn’t like.
However, I loved “Léon: The Professional” which Natalie Portman is excellent in and could tell how TALENTED she was from that film. She’s 1 of my FAVORITE Actresses and she’s VERY SMART!
There are Italian film Directors I like but can’t think of one right now.
Btw, a woman I know very well knows William Gibson, Author of Neuromancer and coined cyberpunk.
Can’t recall how she knows him but remember thinking that was cool when she mentioned it. She’s a Music Therapist.
I haven’t read any of Gibson’s book but Neuromancer has been on my list of books to read for many years.
And NO to dubbed Foreign films. Much better to read subtitles unless can’t.
A lot is lost by dubbing the original film. And dubbing it doesn’t match the original Actors’ mouths.
