I put twenty thousand dollars down payment on a 3 bedroom 280k house. 4 years ago. It's now worth 510k. My mortgage is 1800$ a month. I would pay that much for a two bedroom apartment.
I don't have to pay PMI anymore.
It was easily the best investment I ever made.
Because I would have had to pay that much per month on a apartment anyways I effectively turned twenty k into 250k.
And interest is front loaded
