ecash within an organization could be interesting. employees could reward employees without needing to setup a wallet for everyone. employees could thank each other for helping them with evilCorp bucks that you could cash out on lightning or via paycheck bonuses. nostr:npub1jutptdc2m8kgjmudtws095qk2tcale0eemvp4j2xnjnl4nh6669slrf04x
This avoids a lot of cross-mint and mint-trust headaches which has always turned me off of ecash.
Discussion
That's a good idea. Yes, there's a well-known Bitcoin company that told me they're going to use Cashu exactly for this (paying out salaries to their employees).
Could you share some kind of sketch how this could work. I also had some thoughts about this one year ago but nothing concrete.
- employer sets up a mint with a Lightning node
- employees use one of the many wallets out there
- once a month employer sends employees ecash as salary... via signal if you want
- employees withdraw to whatever wallet they have, employer doesn't know who's wallet is what, can't track your coins easily (esp if the co is larger) etc.
I'm thinking if this was tightly integrated into notedeck and auto-configued on lan, all zap actions could be ecash zap actions. so all notedeck apps (social network, slack, etc) would transparently use ecash internally and LN zaps externally
I guess there's no reason it couldn't use either externally/internally depending on how you have your wallet configured.
Maybe this could be a solution for my project too

Nice idea.
But there appears another problem. Don't know elsewhere but in Germany the social taxes are going directly from salary to the government agencies. The accounting must calculate then before the payout of the net sallary all social taxes and pay them and them pays the sallary over their own mint to the employees. Is this the way?
