It’s the 4th. And I gotta say; though I love what America, inherently, historically, and ideally stands for, I find myself in that pessimistic mindset of “Today, on 7/4/2023, what is it we should be celebrating?”

At best it’s a day of remembrance for the afore mentioned era. And really, if that’s the case, celebration is

Not called for.

We should be huddled around trying to work out where we went wrong, and asking “what have we gained if anything? And is it worth the cost?”

I yearn not for the archaic, bigoted social structure of ignorance infused capitalism, nor do I relish this current hybridization which has become akin to for-profit prison.

The Fourth of July is a celebration of choice. The possession of the ability to choose.

I just think it’s a stretch to say that the path being walked makes we the people proud as as result of our choices.

But we, I, have to try. We have to work, together, to make it something we all can celebrate as one nation. Without the whole of us, it’s just a Hallmark holiday cash grab.

God Bless is all. God Bless America.
