This must be what it felt like at the end of the Roman era
As a younger person I noticed that all of the stories about civilization collapse were about the leaders and their decisions.
It gave me lots of questions about the regular people. Did they know? Did they try to stop it? Why couldn't they stop it?
To whoever decided to answer me, I'm sorry I asked. Please stop answering.
Given that evolutionary changes can take hundreds of thousands of years, I imagine the people were just like they are today: ignorant. Bread and circuses.
