In Ancient Rome, the punishment for killing one's own father was the death penalty. It involved being sewn into a leather sack along with a variety of vicious animals, such as a chicken, a snake, a monkey, or a dog. Then, having reached the banks of the Tiber, he was thrown into the icy waters of the river. This execution method was called “Poena cullei.”
