Overall development is going to continue to web out in multiple directions.

In regards to an existing feature that was just introduced over the weekend, I think people are going to find creative ways to utilize badges and either build out new clients around their usage or existing clients will add more features that utilize them. ie private message groups, invite only message boards, password replacement, content subscriptions, etc...
