Eligibility: New schools can be established, and existing state schools can convert to charter schools, except specialist schools.
Student Enrollment: Must accept all eligible students unless oversubscribed.
Cultural and Community Partnership: Emphasizes a partnership between charter schools, government, and local communities.
Legislation and Timeline: Legislation is being processed (as of June 2024) with a target for the first charter schools to open in Term 1, 2025.
Application Process: Applications open in July 2024, with an Authorisation Board selecting sponsors by September-October 2024 and contracts finalized by October-November 2024.
