Probably good to point out that it exists, but not to the scale that most in the West think.
I could see that as well, but i would also want to pair that with an actual first hand experience from someone there. When I do, i'll happily change my opinion.

A photo of mine from 1976. 😊 It's definitely possible to say that the world as a whole, and particularly the west, is infantile in it's knowledge of the nation, both the pro and anti.

Self censorship is as real as day. There have been "supervisors" on nostr for some time and it seems they have started to have "chats" with users who aren't able to control their thoughts.
I agree, though, that the whole social credit score narrative got way ahead of the reality but perhaps the goal of getting more of the west to question the west's media/online narratives was the plan. Confusion on who to trust has a long history of tactic from Soviet times. If we trust a source, that ultimately proves bogus, we then tend to distrust that source. The perception of a nation will be controlled ,preferrably, by that state organ exclusively, internally and externally. As I said I feel that the west is woefully naive and mentally like a kid, so easily swayed to think. I truly, now for over a year, believe the west is more brainwashed by that nation's state influence than it's own people are.
What is the goal of that kind of propaganda? 🤔
