Personally, I don't use cash that much. Even though I know I should. I don't have any issues with trying ecash. So I know these questions are not directed at me.

I just think we live in the most atomized time in recent history (ever?). Community is less and less of a thing. Plus, at least in the US, there is the continuing slide into being a low trust society.
